Excitement builds for
a bigger, more exciting
60th NCCBI Annual Meeting
Big
event now less than two weeks away
Registrations
by the hundreds are pouring in for the Annual Meeting on
Wednesday, March 20, and the event is shaping up to be among the
largest and most impressive in many years. Let’s get you
caught up on developments since the last newsletter went out.
The
first thing you’ll notice at the Annual Meeting is that our
Expo trade show is dramatically larger than last year.
There will be more than 70 exhibitors showcasing products and
services in more than 80 booths on the Raleigh Convention and
Conference Center floor. That’s more than twice as large as
last year. You’ll have fun strolling the isles of exhibits and
registering for several nice prizes that will be given away. The
evening reception, with open bars and lots of finger food, will
be held in the Expo area.
Are you sure you’ve reserved your Annual Meeting tickets?
If you haven’t, place call the NCCBI office today at
919-836-1400. Marsha Lewandowski will take care of you. You also
can register online at our web site, www.nccbi.org.
Ticket prices are the same as last year, $50 for lunch and $80
for dinner.
We’re sorry to report that former UNC System president Bill
Friday will be unable to moderate the “Evening with Four
Governors” dinner program. A family medical emergency has
come up that will require him to be out of town on the 20th.
NCCBI President Phil Kirk will fill in as moderator.
Other announcements: Jim Goodmon has chosen former
Raleigh mayor and former NCCBI chairman Smedes York to
present his Citation for Distinguished Citizenship. Russell
Robinson has chosen former UNC System president C.D. Spangler
Jr.
to present his Citation for Distinguished Public Service. Dr.
Albert G. Edwards, pastor emeritus at First Presbyterian
Church in Raleigh, will deliver the invocation at the luncheon,
and current UNC System President Molly Broad will deliver
the invocation at the dinner.
Remember these other Annual Meeting events: The Small
Business Advisory Board meets from 9:30 to 11:45 a.m.; the Board
of Directors meeting is from 3:15 to 5:00 p.m.; the first
executive seminar on “Politics After Redistricting”
is from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m.; the second seminar on “Why
Session Limits Make Sense” is from 3:45 to 5 p.m.; the reception
starts at 5:00 p.m. on the arena floor.
