NCBEST focuses on State Government Efficiency, Business Climate

NCCBI established NCBEST in 2003 to supply research and increase public awareness about the importance of having efficient state government operations and policies and programs favorable to job creation and a positive business climate, including a fair tax structure and excellent educational system.

NCBEST has played a role in:

  • Developing information about North Carolina 's business tax burden
  • Writing opinion pieces for major dailies and business publications in North Carolina .
  • Drafting efficiency legislation.
  • Speechwriting
  • Monitoring media coverage
  • Preparing analysis of government spending
Present areas of special interest are the Governor's Business Council for Fiscal
Reform and General Assembly's Select Committee on Economic Growth and Development. This website presents two areas of focus for improvement in North Carolina; Efficiency and Business Climate. Use the menu bar at the top of each page to easily navigate this information resource.

"Unless the public demands action state government will muddle along...with
archaic practices."

Jim Hyler, Chair of Governor Easley's Efficiency Commission
